ISLAMIC SCHOOL OF AUGUSTA

CURRICULUM FOR CLASSES  1 - 6

The Islamic School of Augusta offers classes 1 through 6.  Two years of academic instructions are given for each class.

An academic year consists of two semesters:

1.     Fall Semester - August through December

2.     Spring Semester - January through May

The curriculum contents are based upon three hours of classroom instruction every week.  (1.5 hrs on Sunday and 1.5 hrs on Friday)

Since each class consists of two years of academic programs, a student moves to the next class each even year (ex.2004, 2006,…).  Honors day is held during the month of June in each even year.  On this day, awards are given based on the students’ performance during the two academic years in the following four categories:

1.     Academic achievement

2.     Excellent behavior

3.     Attendance

4.     Participation

A child must be at least five years old to attend the school.  The child is placed in a class considering the child’s age, background, and performance.

Summer session is offered during the months of June, July, and August.  The programs and activities of the summer session are optional and are not included in this curriculum.
